Maor Observatory was established in July 2022 as a collaboration between Scott Hammonds and Jim Janusz.
First light was taken in March of 2023. The name Maor comes from the Hebrew word מְאֹרֹת֙ or maor, meaning lights.
Genesis 1:14 says, "Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night,
and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years.""
